Karma.

I  had the opportunity to spend some time with a girl that I went to high school with, and her little baby Karma. I have seen my share of happy/smiley babies, and she is definitely up there among the happiest babies I’ve ever met. She was such a doll and was up for all the outfit and location changes her mom and I put her through.

And, in case you all are wondering (as I was and asked), Karma’s name was chosen for many different reasons, one being that it means “destiny” and her middle name means “blessing from above.” Her mom felt that it was her destiny to be her blessing from above. And, I’m sure she’s a blessing to all those she’s around.

(By the way, that last one is my FAVORITE!)

Strictly speaking, “karma” refers to the actions which lead to one’s destiny, not to the actual destiny or fate itself.

Though it must have had morphed, ’cause “destiny” is how it is used nowadays. Still, the Hindu concept is that karma is the sum total of all your works, good or bad, which ultimately lead to whatever destiny your karma merits you.

All that aside, great pictures, and adorable baby! :D

In most babybooks “destiny” is the given meaning. Also, in the dictionary it is listed as a meaning. Perhaps it was a meaning that was accepted over time due to incorrect use by people who were no too knowledgeable about Eastern Religions.
I suppose I’ve always taken it to mean “what goes around comes around.”
