Over three years ago, on an old blog of mine, I had listed several movies that are considered “great movies” (they were on AFI’s top 100). I had several that I selected that I hadn’t seen, but thought I should.
I happened to be rereading the post and realized that I’ve got several that I can cross off the list.
1. Citizen Kane
2. Casablanca (I actually own this one now, and have watched it several times, it is a favorite!)
3. Lawrence of Arabia
4. Singin’ in the Rain (This was cute, but I thought I’d really like it more…it seemed pretty trite, and I usually like trite).
5. It’s a Wonderful Life (I was expecting to not like this…don’t know why. But, I loved it.)
6. Psycho (Definitely a fave. I’ve yet to really hate a Hitchcock movie)
7. One Flew over the Cuckcoo’s Nest
8. The Grapes of Wrath
9. Dr. Strangelove
10.Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
11.It Happened One Night
12.North by Northwest
13.The Birth of a Nation
14.The Philadelphia Story
15.The Third Man (though this may warrant a rewatch…it didn’t really keep my attention, mostly because the sound on the version I had was REALLY bad, so I never really got into it.)
16.An American in Paris
17.Wuthering Heights
18.American Graffiti
19.Bringing up Baby (another favorite)
I have also seen alot of other movies this year most if not all by suggestion of friends. I need to dig up my list of those and post about them. I found some real gems.
Also, along the lines of movie posts, I’ve been doing some “research” for a Best of Horror movie entry. So, look forward to that sometime soon.
