I just wanted to let everyone know that I’ve changed some things in a BIG way. I’m not longer Indie Girl Photography, but simply Alicia Beckman, Photographer…classy, right? Lovely cake. Apparently sometime the night before her wedding cake had been destroyed. The people at Olive Garden (where the reception was and the cake had been dropped off), called her to inform her that it was ruined. She managed to save the top layer and was content with that. However when we entered the reception, she saw that she had a BRAND NEW CAKE! How awesome is that?

Look at that GORGEOUS table.

Instead of a guest book. They had blank notecards and lots of stickers and encouraged all of the guests to fill one out with a piece of advice for the couple. Pretty creative.

These guys were obsessivly ringing the bells (ie, getting Jen and Jovon to kiss).

The reception was in a back room at Olive Garden, and while we were out in the main part, some random guy came over and congratulated them and gave them some advice on how to make their marriage last….Thanks, random guy.

As I was walking to my car, I noticed how beautiful it looked outside and had to snap a pic.

We made our way to a not-too-far-away covered bridge. Story was that it was newly painted and the graffiti was gone. Upon arrival we quickly saw that new graffiti was there. However, I don’t hate graffiti, especially if it has a good message.

She brought her pup Sophie along. I asked Abbey if she thought she’d sit op on the little pillar there. She wasn’t sure, but as soon as she put her up there, Sophie LOVED it. She turned into quite the model.

We started our day at the playground.

Then we moved to the cemetery. I know I’ve said it before, but I really do love cemeteries. Eli seems to like them too.

Pickin’ flowers for mom.

I love this. After Eli gave Becca a kiss he quickly turned around to go get more flowers (he picked about 3-4 handfulls for her), he started to fall, but regained his balance. Typical clutzy Eli thing to do.

I was sooo excited to see that we were in the perfect spot to get some pics with lens flare.

Eli was really getting tired of having his picture taken, so I bribed him: just a few more pics and I’d let HIM take one. Here is Eli’s pic of the “flowers.”

*I’d like to note that while the session is called an engagement session, they are not reserved for the engaged only. Perhaps you aren’t engaged yet, but you’ve been together for years and want some pictures of the two of you or perhaps you have been married for 5, 10, 20 years and realized that the last pictures you had together were, in fact, your wedding pictures an “engagement” session could be just the thing for you!

A couple weeks ago, I was headed back from a meeting with a lovely couple whose wedding I’ll be shooting this fall. As I made my way through Shelbyville, I knew at any moment I would come upon the sign and knew that my camera was carefully packed away in my trunk.  I second guessed myself for a moment as I looked down at my wool skirt and knee-high boots. It was cold outside and I wasn’t so sure I wanted to brave the weather just for a picture of a sign. But, I pretty much put on my now-or-never attitude and pulled over. I’m sure I was an interesting sight for the others on 44.

But anyway, here is it.

One of the other photographers (the lovely Brandi Brown based in St. Louis), dressed herself in some vintage apparel and let the rest of us just go crazy and shoot her. It was a bit hectic working with so many other photographers, but it really was a lot of fun.

This one requires a bit of explaination. Brandi and I (as well as several other girls) were on a team in a shooting competition. All teams were sent out in hopes of shooting something “unusual.” After we had what we thought was a perfect pic, someone suggested Brandi get her potrait done with her face all smooshed up against some glass. After she pulled her face away, she saw that it was still there as a smudge. Sorry to whoever is in charge of washing that window, but it made for a cool pic.

This was my view from my parking garage as I was leaving one night. I thought it was so pretty, I just had to get a shot.

But, I got an email from Kyla who was wanting maternity pictures done…I was wanting to do some, so, we made it happen.

I know this shot has kinda been done to death in the photography world. But, I’ve always thought it was cute (if not cliche now) and this was my first time to give it a shot.

I love these next few pics. Daddy is in the Marines and not able to be around just yet, and these pictures were done as a complete surprise to him! The next few are done with his cami blouse and dogtags.

Right as we were getting ready to leave and I was making sure there weren’t any other pictures that she wanted. Grandpa Joe suggested that we get one of her pregnant, barefoot, and working in the garden with a hoe. HAHA..why not, I say.

How totally fitting is this?!?! I LOVE this picture. And, while I’m sure his mama is sick to death of Barney, Eli love him, and this picture is soo him right now. If he were my baby, I’d have a print of this hanging in my bathroom, I think.
